Case Study
Gradient Institute is working with a major national bank on AI policy.

A leading Australian bank engaged Gradient Institute to provide subject matter expertise in the responsible use of AI to aid in the development of their AI policy, processes and practices.

Drawing on Gradient Institute's experience in crafting responsible AI systems and policies for other major organisations locally and internationally, the bank sought our assistance to ensure a safer, fairer and more transparent future for its customers.

The engagement involved Gradient co-facilitating workshops with key stakeholders from functions across the bank (technical, legal, risk, procurement, etc.) to define the scope and nature of the AI policy, and collaboratively draft their ethical AI principles and AI policy. This incorporated work on AI lifecycle, risks, accountabilities and governance. Central to the policy is the requirement for the bank’s AI systems to adhere to the organisation's own ethical principles.

The bank acknowledged that Gradient Institute's subject matter expertise in the responsible use of AI had an important role in shaping their AI policy and solidifying their commitment to customer wellbeing and the wider community.
